Happy International Women's Day! Today we are helping a woman named Aminata in Sierra Leone! Who is Aminata? She's enrolled in her 2nd year studying pharmacy at the most prestigious medical school in Sierra Leone. A big accomplishment!! Only about 20% of women in the region she is from can read a sentence, and they only accepted 50 women from the whole country to her program. But recently her mom died, and now Aminata has no way to pay. She may have to drop out. Why does it matter? Without help to continue her pharmacy degree, her job options are solely heavy labor. Her country is a HARD place for women, who face lots of violence, FGM, poverty, domestic abuse and are rarely able to go to college. Many girls feel forced to survive via prostitution (at least half of girls in SL exchange sex for money, food, water, shelter, or transportation). That's not what she wants, she just wants to keep being in school. The amount she needs? $610 total And guess what? Good news! Your girl (me) scurried around all week behind the scenes trying to get help for her, and thanks to all the wonderful people who donated: we already raised 46% of that!!!! SHE'S NOT DROPPING OUT ON OUR WATCH! We believe that we can change the end to this story, so that she can continue her studies. How? With a party, of course! Join me for an online Tarot party7-9 PM EST And tell your friends!! Already this fundraiser has helped us to spread the word and help Aminata. If you or a friend joins us, we could be halfway there! It's by donation. Whether you want a card reading or not you can donate. Join us live by zoom or watch on facebook to claim your card reading! Link to share: How to Join

How goes it? It's been a while since I emailed. Last week I was silent-- I was combing through things in storage and was under a deadline. Do you have a mountain of things in storage? What about in your mind? What about on your todo list? Notebooks and documents spilling everywhere? When you face a mountain of things you need to deal with, what do you do? I tend to get overwhelmed easily and go into fight or flight. It's times like those where I need to breathe, maybe take a break or a walk....
How are you doing? Is there anything you are celebrating? Let me say first-- I’m riding high because my second business, which I acquired in January, has celebrated a big milestone. Background: My grandfather started a business 50 years ago, a magazine about banjos, it passed to my dad and now it's mine. After a LOT of work behind the scenes, I finally was able to announce that the business is open (and not closing, which almost happened). A lot of people are celebrating and supporting. So...
I have some news. I hope you are doing okay, as I mentioned last week, my husband had a cold and I was not far behind. I ended up getting sick, and I am almost better. Today, I'd planned to continue sharing, in my latest vein on the topic of writing and digital organization of your words and how life changing it can be. But something got in the way of writing: And it wasn't my physical symptoms that kept me from writing this as planned. It was an ailment of the heart that has afflicted me for...
